Get your music
on Beatport

Beatport is where DJs actually buy music. Downloads carry a far higher unit price than a stream, and a Beatport chart placement is a real credential in electronic scenes.

Curated catalog

Beatport reviews submissions, so acceptance itself signals quality.

DJ charts and Hype

How Beatport pays

Where the money
actually comes from

Beatport is a store, not a streaming service — DJs buy tracks outright, so you earn a share of an actual sale price rather than a fraction of a cent. One sale can be worth hundreds of streams. It also runs a streaming tier for subscribers.

Playbook

Getting the most
out of Beatport

What actually moves the needle on this platform — from artists who release here every week.

Tip 01

Deliver an extended mix

DJs want the long intro and outro for mixing. A radio edit alone limits sales.

Tip 02

Get the subgenre precise

Beatport browsing is subgenre-driven to a degree no other store matches.

Tip 03

Expect a longer lead time

Beatport reviews submissions, so schedule with more runway than usual.

Tip 04

Skip it if you're not making club music

There's no benefit to being in a catalog nobody browses for your genre.

Before you upload

What Beatport
needs from you

Get these right the first time and your release sails through QC. Get them wrong and it bounces back.

What we need

The specs every store expects, including Beatport.

  • Audio: WAV or FLAC, 16-bit or 24-bit, 44.1kHz or higher
  • Artwork: square JPG or PNG, minimum 3000×3000px, RGB
  • Credits: primary artist, featured artists, writers and producers
  • Language and genre set accurately for the release
  • ISRC and UPC — we issue them free, or bring your own
  • Release date scheduled ahead, not backdated

What gets rejected

The most common reasons a release fails QC.

  • Artwork with URLs, social handles or pricing on it
  • Blurry or low-resolution covers, or non-square images
  • Third-party logos or store names in the artwork
  • Misleading artist names — using a famous artist to get found
  • Silence, clipping or audio that cuts off abruptly
  • Uncleared samples or covers without a mechanical licence

Beatport FAQ

Frequently
asked questions

Something not covered here? Contact our team.

Will Beatport definitely accept my release?

Not automatically. Beatport curates its catalog and can decline releases outside its genres or below its production standards. We'll tell you if a release is rejected and why.

Is it worth it for non-electronic music?

Generally no. If you aren't making club-oriented electronic music, your effort is better spent elsewhere.
